Antique Victorian Metal Button - Round Filigree with White Rhinestones
Welcome to Robins Nest Midwest!
About 20 years ago, Art came into 3 shadowboxes full of Victorian buttons. Well, he couldn't sell the buttons as a set so he had me take them from the boxes to list individually which I am now doing. I'm not a button expert but I do know a good one (or two) when I see them. So up for offer now:
AGE: I am guessing but anywhere from the late 1800s to early 1900s.
ITEM: A metal button, shank back, with an airy front design - a filigree border surrounding a center that has white bits of glass. At first I thought I could term them "rhinestones" but they really aren't sharp pointed stones. To be honest, some look faceted, most look like blobs of glass. And what's even stranger is that there are touches of color around the rims holding each piece.
CONDITION: Very nice front - border is slightly darker than the more golden center. There's also a bit of glue residue to the back of the button that will peel off with a little finger work.
METAL CONTENT: Base metal? Brass?
SIZE: 1-1/4" across
FINAL COMMENTS: Definitely a unique bit of metal for a treasured project!
NOTE: If you are purchasing more than 1 item from my shop, please wait for me to amend the invoice. I can put a lot of small goodies in one envelope for transport!
