ITEM: From France, one of those wonderful silver and glass covered medals/charms - this one featuring the image of Saint Giles (S. Gilles Abbe Priez Pour Nous) to the front and Pilerinage Aiguevives (Abbey) at the back.
CONDITION: Excellent - seriously, you don't find em like this! Glass is thick on both sides.
METAL CONTENT: Being French, 800 or 900 Silver.
HALLMARKS: One French poincon on the bale denoting silver content.
SIZE: Just shy of 1" high (to top of bale) x 1/2" wide.
WEIGHT: 3.2 grams
FINAL COMMENTS: From Wikipedia - Saint Giles is the Patron of cripples, is invoked against cancer, sterility in women and madness. Also patron saint for childhood fears, convulsions and depression. He is also the patron saint of Edinburgh, Graz, Nuremberg, Osnabrück, Sankt Gilgen, Brunswick, Wollaberg, Saint-Gilles (Brussels Capital Region) and Saint-Gillis-Waas.
