Antique Edwardian 12K Gold & Rhinestone Paste Drop Earrings
Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! May I offer….
AGE: Possibly late Victorian to early Edwardian but I'll stick to Edwardian era - C.1900 or so
ITEM: A pair of yellow gold earrings from Europe, made for pierced ears (posts) and featuring rhinestone paste/glass paste stones. At the top of the earring is a small white paste while the bottom larger stone is amethyst colored - the amethyst stone appears to be set in silver.
CONDITION: Very nice though a light polish might be in order as these gems were completely BLACK when found! Yep, gold tarnishes after 100 or so years! The pastes are nice with no chips or cracks.
METAL CONTENT: 12K Gold and 800/900 Silver
HALLMARKS: K12 on the straight bar portion of the earring.
SIZE: From top to bottom measures about 3/4"; width of the amethyst area is 1/2".
WEIGHT: 4.3 grams combined
FINAL COMMENTS: Fabulous!
