Antique Victorian Silver & Enamel "Two Sweethearts" Pin/Brooch
Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! May I offer….
AGE: C.1890 or so - maybe MUCH earlier
ITEM: A lovely pin with lots of scallops featuring a border of red enamel over an engine turned background (guilloche) and having a lovely hand painted scene of two sweethearts/lovers at the center. The gent is dressed as a Cavalier so the image would be one set in the 1700s I think.
CONDITION: Very, very nice. Simple c-catch at the back to hold the pinstem in place. Light surface marks to the top clear coat of enamel but nothing you wouldn't expect from 100 plus years of age. Does not interfere with the design one iota. Light marks on the back as well - again, just from wear/use/throwing into a jewelry box for so many years.
METAL CONTENT: Definitely European made so either 800, 900 or 925 silver.
SIZE: 1-1/8" x 1-1/16".
WEIGHT: 6.9 grams
FINAL COMMENTS: Sooo pretty!
