Vintage 14K Gold, Silver & 2CT TW Rose Cut Diamond Pin/Brooch - Dove of Peace
Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! May I offer….
AGE: It I'm right, Victorian Revival at around 1970. If I'm wrong, Early Victorian Revival around 1930/1940.
ITEM: A wonderful pin/brooch in the shape of a bird alighted over a small floral. The main body of the pin is covered in rose cut diamonds as is the floral. There is a tiny touch of blue enamel to a leaf and a red ruby bead at the eye of the bird. The front of the pin is silver (oxidized for an antique look) while the back of the pin is yellow gold. Old fashioned safety catch at the back to hold the pinstem in place.
CONDITION: Very nice with no problems I can spot. Oxidation continues from the front continues to the back - this is due to the liquid nature of turning silver black and using Liver of Sulphur when in a liquid application.
METAL CONTENT: Sterling Silver front - 14K Yellow Gold back
HALLMARKS: None that I can spot - metal has been acid tested for content.
SIZE: 1-3/4" wide x 1-5/8" high.
DIAMONDS: The rose cuts number around 72. There is one modern cut diamond and one ruby bead. If I had to guess, I would say there is over 2 Carats worth of diamonds in the pin!
WEIGHT: A hefty 10.8 grams.
FINAL COMMENTS: Just an adorable piece of vintage jewelry!
