REPURPOSED Rosary Necklace with Cross - Silver Tone Metal and Floral Black Beads
Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! May I offer….
AGE: C.1920 or so
ITEM: Here's an interesting silver metal necklace from the Art Deco era featuring graduated black beads and ending in a floral center. From the center section of the necklace I added a black onyx bead and a small cross (hence the UPCYCLE category). Both these pieces can be removed if desired. Simple spring clasp closure.
CONDITION: Very nice with no real problems I can spot. The beads are interesting in that I can't tell if they are glass or a pressed matter like bog wood. There are natural markings in the beads, swirls, pock marks, etc. - so whatever the beads are made of, it's man-made and hand cast. The clasp still works but doesn't have a tight tension "spring" as it should have - it still works though. This may need to be replaced some time in the future.
METAL CONTENT: The findings on the black onyx bead are Sterling Silver - everything else is silverplate or silver tone metal.
SIZE: Length of the necklace is 15-1/8". Drop measures 1-5/8" from bottom of rose to bottom of cross.
WEIGHT: 11.1 grams
FINAL COMMENTS: Ready to wear!
