This is a gorgeous, very old dress from France that needs some TLC. It is in good condition considering it's age, but it does have some issues. Please supersize the photos to get a complete picture.
It fits perfectly (over underwear) on my 24" EJ on the early Jumeau body with the blue mark. She has huge hands and it accommodates them well. It is ankle length on her, and the sleeves come down to her elbows. The waist is adjustable by a narrow tape that runs through a pocket going around the waist. There is another tape going through the wide neckline, but some past owner has sewn it down, I think when they added a strip of white trim just under the neckline. The front cutwork panel is frail, and had probably broken in spots, and they were trying to repair that. I've had this for years and only recently noticed the added trim.
This dress has so much detail it is hard to describe. There is feather stitching everywhere, a pleated panel, delicate lace, cloth covered buttons, and the tiniest gathering at the waist that I have ever seen. This is all hand done. It is made from very sheer and delicate white cotton, and there are a few thin spots and a small hole or two. There has been mending done on the front panel, and there are some faint age spots, mostly near the front hem.
The main problem will be the neckline. You will need to put something under it, like a white chemise, or find a way to free the drawstrings. You could also gather it, which I would have done if I knew how to sew! I had a white chemise on my doll, which also served to camouflage the holes. I think the previous owner took tucking stitches here and there, because I just noticed one is still there.
Measurements are 17 3/4" long from top of shoulder to hem, 7 1/2" from shoulder seam to seam, shoulder opening at sleeve is 6 1/2" around, sleeve length 6 3/4", and waist is approx. 7 1/2" measuring flat across , which will go smaller or larger.
