This is a wonderful and very, very rare tea cozy that dates from the 1920's-30's. This tea cozy looks to be a British character of some sort, perhaps a court lady. Her hair is made of thin yarn. Her hands are of cloth and her face is composition but has a scuff on her nose. Nevertheless, she is remarkable!
The detail on this piece is amazing. She has a double-beaded necklace around her neck. Her headpiece is designed out of metallic lace and sequins. Her uniquely designed jacket is made of felt with wonderfully square cut edging and is also embellished with gold metallic lace so popular of the time. There are two buttons on the jacket. One of the buttons has fallen off and I put it into a bag which you can see in one photo. It will be very easy to reattach and I will leave that up to the new owner.
Her cozy skirt is made of greenish iridescent fabric popular of that era with a fabulous floral border and braiding along the edge. The inside of the cozy shows the same fabric but in excellent and brighter condition. This tea cozy was definitely factory made and surely expensive at the time.
She is a very unique doll. I have only seen one other cozy with the same taffeta and tucks used on the inside of the cozy. Factory made all original.
Measurements; She is 13 inches high, the bottom or widest part of her is 14 inches; shoulder to shoulder is 3 inches.
She would make a wonderful addition to a tea cozy collection or any collection.
