This stunning, vintage, mod brooch is by renowned Scottish maker Norman Grant. It is an unusually large example of one of his hand-made studio pieces.
The brooch is an abstract composition with sterling silver nesting frames, with two large panels finished in vitreous glass (kiln-fired) enamel in translucent shades of cobalt, aqua, and sky blue. The effect is somewhat like a kaleidoscope.
Measuring 2 1/4" by 1 5/16", the piece is in excellent condition. The back has a rollover safety clasp and has full assay marks for Edinburgh, 1973. Grant's handmade pieces are becoming quite hard to find, and this piece is really a beauty.
