This lovely antique brooch is an early piece by noted Norwegian silversmith David Andersen of Oslo. Made of sterling silver with a gold vermeil wash, it is finished with kiln-fired (vitreous glass) enamel in translucent, pearlescent white over a wavy, guilloche textured surface. The Pretty brooch has a cutout center and is accented with hand-painted pink roses with green leaves as well as tiny gold leaf appliques.
Measuring 2" by 1/2", the brooch is in excellent condition. The back has a simple c-clasp and is signed "925S" along with Andersen's earliest maker's mark of tools.
