Bear Cubs Seriagraph Silkscreen Original Print by Gerald Nailor Navajo Tewa - image 1 of 6

Two bear cubs at play are featured in this seriagraph (silkscreen) original print by Gerald Nailor,Navajo printmaker, dated 1951. Nailor was a well known artit and the prints were produced by Tewa Enterprises, an artistic concern founded by Nailor and Harrison Begay. The print is signed and dated '51',indicating 1951. The print was produced in a 6 inch x 5 1/2 inch size, and the image shown through the mat opening is close to that. The overall opening size is 9 1/2 inch x 8 5/8 inch. Framed size about 11 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches. The matting is light weight and has some slight buckling. Slight buckling to the print makes me think it is not mounted, but I have not opened the frame to examine this. I think the paper has some discoloration from light, but the colors seem pretty good. I have seen mint versions that were on whiter paper, but did not see much color variation, although I am sure the color has faded a bit over nearly 60 years. Regular glass, dust papered, and wired for hanging.

I have another Nailor print listed. Please contact me for combined shipping on both, if purchase together.
