The rooster in this late 19th century toy still peeps when the door is opened, despite his obvious age. Mechanism still works, and the bird does pop out and peep when the door is opened. The bird's beak is non-existing, and the one feather has become detached, but is included. Body of the bird is painted paper or fabric over a wire frame, with attached feathers. Minor wear to the paper litho roof paper, brick-like side panels intact. No damage to any of the original wood parts. Measures 6 x 4 inches at the base, and is 5 1/2 inches tall at the front. Marked Germany. Condition has been considered in the pricing of this item.
