A wonderful antique Edwardian celebration of the royal family of England. This 9 inch diameter plate commemorates the coronation of Alexandra as Queen of the United Kingdom and British Empire bears the June 26, 1902 date originally scheduled for the coronation of Edward and Alexandra. The event was postponed on June 24 when Edward underwent emergency abdominal surgery. The coronation was held on August 9, 1902.
The earthenware plate shows some brown discoloration on the back and has crazing to the cream finish. Both conditions are commonly seen on this Wedgwood line. Transfer images of the Queen,flanked by flags of the Commonwealth countries.
