This wick trimmer with waste chamber, dating from the last half of the 19th century, measures about 6 1/4 inch in length. The riveted legs are about 5/8 inch, and have ball feet. The one on the thumb hole side appears to have been cut a little too long and riveted before the length was noticed, so the maker just bent it a little, so the piece sits level. The box measures about 1 1/4 inch by 3/4inch. There is still some spring tension to the piece, which starts when they are opened further than the position shown in my third image.
