This late 19th or early 20th century spoon has a great image of a golfer at the height of his backswing, in a fancy cartouche. Several clubs and the flag from the third hole decorate the spoon handle. The back of the cartouche is plain, with the reverse image of the flag and clubs.
The spoon measures 5 3/8 inches, with a weight of 19 grams. It is marked 'Sterling' and 'CB & H', the mark of Codding Brothers and Heilbron of North Attleboro, MA. This mark indicates manufacture after 1891, and before 1918.
The spoon detail is still very crisp. The bowl is gilt on both surfaces and has a bit of discoloration, shown in the photographs.
