The spoon measures a little over 5 ¾ inches in length and is marked 'Sterling', with no maker's mark. The gilt bowl has an image of the Capitol, with 'U.S Capitol' and 'Washington D. C' in slightly raised relief. The handle is marked ;'Washington D. C.', with images of the Washington Monument, the New City Post Office, along with a mounted figure of George Washington. The back of the piece has images of the capitol, the New Library (Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress) surmounted by a large eagle, Washington's Tomb, and a small hatchet. 23.2 grams. This one has some verdigris discoloration, not really noticeable to the naked eye, and my only cleaning of the item has been a light wipe with a silver polishing cloth.
