Wonderful antique 1890s primitive soldered tin grater tool measuring about 5-1/4" wide by 5-1/2" in height. Featuring a nutmeg or spice grater with wood knob ends, it has a spring loaded holder for inserting nutmeg - by moving the bottom slider back and forth, it grates the spice - there is still a nutmeg within the port as shown.
Bearing the name Edgar Manufacturing Company and patent date of 1895 (hard to read), condition is wonderful with no dents, discoloration or damage other than typical patination and darkening to the tin from age and use - solid soldering and wonderful construction. Think this is visually interesting ~ a neat antique kitchen tool and a fun addition to any collection or display!
