Vintage cotton full size appliqued Parasol Belle quilt measuring about 76" wide by 120" long. Made from a variety of colorful calicos, solid cottons and even flannel patterns, it is filled with a medium weight batting - solid blue back is original and brought forward to create the edge.
Both machine sewn and hand stitched rather crudely at about 6 stitches per inch, condition is fair with lots of small stains, soiling, separation to some of the applique edges, and age related usage wear. Fabric and construction is heavy - this is a sturdy quilt built to provide warmth - it would also be perfect hanging, which is how I had intended to display - just never got around to it. No smokers or pets here. Please note -- only one Belle is holding an umbrella - I used a flash in the last quilt image which is making the colors a bit bright.
I purchased the quilt because the colors were so unusual and vibrant - love the soft purple banding between each block - the dresses are so fun in a variety of color combinations - think the maker enjoyed creating this quilt! Hope someone can use this for display or on a bed - it is a neat, slightly primitive old quilt!
