You are viewing a silver over pewter token struck in 1844 by Davis of Birmingham for the opening of the Royal Exchange in London as well as the erection of the Wellington statue in front of the building by Queen Victoria on June 18, 1844. The token has some loss to the silver plating but has a nice patina on the pewter. The token measures 43 mm or 1 3/4" in diameter.
