It is rare to find a Toshikane necklace and this lovely example has the seven gods of good fortune beautifully rendered in painted Arita porcelain. Each god is mounted on a silver back and connected to others by a silver chain. Starting from the left, the gods are Longevity, Abundance, Dignity, Beauty, Happiness, Wealth, and Wisdom.
It is amazing that the original Toshikane pamphlet that accompanied this necklace was kept. It was laminated at some time probably to preserve it. The inside describes each god of fortune and the back page outlines the other jewelry forms offered by Toshikane. The last and memorable statement is "What a wonderful way to wish someone the good things in life". A lovely sentiment.
