This is a very nice and colorful painting of a procession for a festival in India. There are a large number of people on foot musical instruments, festive decorations, and flags taking part in this procession.
The watercolor or gouache painting is on mica. Paintings like these were made as souvenirs for the British living in India during the days of the Raj. This particular scene was most likely made by a painter in Murshidabad or Patna c1890.
The painting measures 8.25 x 6.5 inches. It is in excellent condition. It is mounted and framed in a modern frame. The frame measures 14x16 inches.
