A beautiful antique fob made from 9ct gold, it has numerous little gold ball decorations around the rim. It is fully hallmarked around the rim for Birmingham 1901. Inside the mount and under glass is an old Victorian silver gilt and enamel 3d (pre decimilisation 3 pence piece) coin. One side is fully gilded and the other side has also been enamelled with red in the crown on a white background with blush edging. The coin is dated 1897, it does look like 1997 but of course Victoria was not on the throne at that time and this style of 3d coin was no longer in circulation. It is in very good uncleaned condition and perfect to wear as a fob, pendant or charm. It measures approx. 3/4" dia. and weighs 5.1g.
English silver coinage pre 1920 i.e. 1919 and before was made from 925 sterling silver,
