This very pretty girl doll was made during the 1940's by the Italian firm of Athena Piacenza. These dolls were often purchased by servicemen as gifts for their wives and daughters. Doll is marked "Athena 37" on the back of her neck and stands 17 inches tall. This doll is made of hard plastic and is in original condition, no repaint. She has a swivel neck and 5 piece body that is firmly strung with a working voice box. She has her original face paint with nicely blushed cheeks, painted single stroke brown eyebrows and rose lip color. She is very fashionable with painted red fingernails. Her blonde mohair type wig is in it's original set that is nice and full except for one small area in the back. Her brown plastic sleep eyes have full soft lashes and work perfectly. This doll retains her original underwear, socks and shoes. I am including a lovely flocked voile dress, with gold trim and attached rayon slip which I found that looks great on her. This dress would be perfect for her, but is a bit small and does not close at the waist in the back (it does button at the neck). There is no damage to the hard plastic, no odor. There is one rub on her left cheek and some pulls near her wig on the left side of her face. Also some other marks and rubs on her head and body, which are common to a doll of this era. From a non-smoking home.
