Vintage 1965 Trifari Jewels of India Collection - Clip Earrings
One of the most popular and beautiful collections designed by Alfred Philippe is the Jewels of India. It was also a collection with several choices of pins, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Since being on Ruby Lane I had occasion to offer two bracelets, a pin and a necklace from this collection, it's time to list the clip earrings from the 1965 collection.
In addition to very elaborate drop earrings Trifari designed, this pair of earrings went with all the pieces in the collection. The center faux emerald cabochon with marble design looks like a real emerald, surrounded by alternating faux sapphire and ruby bezel set pear shapes. The gold plated base metal is covered in pave set clear round rhinestones along the bottom. Both earring clip backs are marked Trifari with copyright C. There is some wear to the gold plating on the back but does not show when worn.
What is especially nice about the elegant 1" round clip earrings is that they can be worn with any other pins or necklaces with similar colors in your collection, they don't have to be from the Jewels of India
collection. There is one photo attached of the Harper's Bazaar October 1, 1965 ad. One photo added illustrates the different pieces in the Jewels of India collection all matching the clip earrings from Costume Jewelry - The Great Pretenders page 21 by Nancy Schiffer & Lyngerda Kelley.
