Herend Porcelain Octagonal Trinket or Ring Box Hand Painted with Kitten Finial.
From the famous Herend Porcelain Manufacturing Company established in the town of Herend in Hungary in 1826, a white porcelain octagonal shape trinket box perfect for a ring or other small piece of jewelry. Beautiful to display on a dresser or vanity and handy to keep jewelry in. The rim and both top and bottom of the box are edged in gold gilt. The green vine and blue cornflower is the popular Blue Garland pattern that is also seen on Herend dinner sets and serving pieces. Each piece of Herend is hand painted and when established in 1826 was most famous for their artistic porcelains. Herend is also known for their unique intricate "Fishnet" pattern, desired by collectors of animal figural porcelains.
Some of their most popular dinner sets, serving pieces, decorative items, lamps and candlesticks are named after their very first customers - Queen Victoria and the Rothschild Family. Complete dinner services were ordered by Queen Victoria as well as the Hapsburg Dynasty and European aristocracy.
The adorable white kitten with a blue bow tied around the neck is in excellent condition, there are no chips or cracks. The box is signed Herend - Hungary - Hand Painted surrounding their trademark shield. The item number and the code for the Blue Garland pattern is also shown. There is a number 128 which might identify the artist who hand painted the porcelain box.
The octagonal box measures 2-1/4 x 2-1/4" , the bottom of the box is 1" high and together with the top and Kitten Finial measures 2-1/4" high.
