Stanley Hagler N.Y.C. - Ian St. Gielar - Large 3-1/4" Floral Brooch/Pin Wire Wrapped - Pink, Lavender & Green flowers set on a single molded green translucent glass leaf.
For collectors of Stanley Hagler - Ian St. Gielar jewelry and especially their large pins, you can't stop with one. Every pin is a work of art, original and one of a kind. The technique of wire wrapping small glass beads, glass flowers, art glass, rhinestones, figurals, charms, layer upon layer with antique finish gold tone metal leaves and assorted findings on a filigree frame became an art form thanks to these two designers. There was no limit to their creative designs and rich details seen in each handmade piece of jewelry.
Several floral pins illustrated in Ann Mitchell Pitman's book - Inside the Jewelry Box - Volume 2 and Jacqueline Rehmann's book - Classic American Costume Jewelry (1st Volume) pages 33 and 51 have examples of floral pins. The pin has a secure swivel clasp and is in excellent condition, worn only one time. From Judith Miller's book Costume Jewelry I noticed a Hagler pin with a similar design, placing a cluster of small flowers next to the molded glass "leaf", please see photo listed.
Stanley Hagler was established in 1953 thru 1996 in New York City, Ian St. Gielar joined him in 1989. Each name is on it's own oval cartouche. This pin measures 3-1/4" high x 2-3/4" across. The profile of multi layered flowers and leaves is 3/4" high. It would look beautiful worn on a jacket, sweater, suit but not on a light weight silk shirt since it weighs almost 55 grams.
Jewelry signed Stanley Hagler and Ian St. Gielar is unique and highly collectible.
