This item is a Folk Art hand painted 3-piece set of nesting pottery dishes made in Mexico. These dishes are hand painted to coordinate. Using a base background color of creamy white, each bowl has a very vintage designed scene. The larger bowl and the smaller bowl seem to have the same floral design painted. The middle sized bowl has a design of a fruit, maybe a plum, painted on it. All three bowls have a crimped pie pan edge. Each of the edges of the bowls are hand painted to match the interior painting of the bowls.
The larger bowl measures approximately 11 1/4" across the circumference and is about 2 3/4" high. The middle bowl is about 9 3/4" across the circumference and is about 2 1/4" high. The smaller bowl is about 8" across the circumference and is about 2 1/4" high. The larger and smaller bowl are each stamped on the base with "Mexico". The middle size bowl is not marked.
These bowls would date back to the 1950-1960's. Since they are hand made and hand painted, there are natural variations in the texture. There is some vintage aging. Please note: there are some chips (mostly on the underside) of the crimped edging. I have shown two pictures so you can see. These are on the smaller and middle sized bowls. I do not find anything other than normal vintage aging on the larger bowl.
These bowls are not now meant for food serving. They are wonderful additions to any collection or decor.
