This item is a vintage red clay pottery pitcher made in Mexico in the Dripware style. It is hand made and hand painted. The artistic Dripware painting flows down the length of the pitcher in beautifully blended earth colors of browns, taupes, yellows, turquoise and deep green. All parts of the pitcher are covered in the drip paint. The body of the pitcher, the applied handle, the base and the top interior.
This piece measures about 6 1/4" from the tip of the spout to the widest part of the handle. It is about 8 3/4" in height. This item is in good vintage condition. There is some roughness around one side of the top rim. It is part of the process used during the making of the pitcher. The damage from use shows at the base. Please see the photos. The chips are evident, but do not show noticeably when displayed.
The rest of the pitcher is in very good condition. The colors are beautiful. The bright yellow and turquoise stand out among the warm brown and taupe colors.
This item is not intended for serving use. It is intended to be a wonderful addition to any Folk Art collection or decor enhancement.
