This item is the plate and matching cake lifter or pie server in the Eggshell Nautilus pattern made by the Homer Laughlin China Company beginning in 1937. This pattern was discontinued in the 1950's. The plate has a hand painted spring floral bouquet in the center. The edges are trimmed with a 22 Karat Gold scrolling pattern. The cake lift/pie server has a matching gold pattern.
These two pieces are in very good condition. I find very minor use marks on the face of the plate. The colors of the flowers and the gold used in the decorative scrolling around the edges are clear and un-faded. Same for the gold scrolling on the pie server. On the back of the plate there is what appears to be some paint lines.
The plate is marked on the back with the "Homer Laughlin Co. logo/Eggshell/Nautilus/a shell logo/U.S.A./C42N5/warranted 22 Karat Gold". The pie server is unmarked, but definitely matches.
