This handpainted fine porcelain teapot is marked "GZHEL/Hand Made in Russia". It is hand painted in the Folk Art Russian tradition of blue painting on white ceramic pieces. This is a larger teapot. It measures approximately 11 3/4" in height and 7 1/2" from the tip of the spout to the widest part of the handle. It has a very graceful form and has a four footed base. The large center of the teapot is painted with dark blue hues on the flowers and decorative trim. The graceful curves of the handle and spout are enhanced with the blue painted flowers and trim. The lid of the teapot has the same blue flowers and edging and also displays a very cute small owl on the top of the lid. The bottom of the teapot has the GZHEL backstamp with "Hand Made in Russia" around it. There is also a cursive "f" and in red is the mark "1 COPT".
This piece is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks, flea bites or repairs that I can see.
