This item is a vintage "Hecho en Mexico" (Made in Mexico) bird figurine made from silver and marble. As you can see from the pictures, this is a very unique and interesting figurine. The symbolic bird figurine is hand carved in silver depicting the feathered head and body with wings and feet. The body of the bird is represented by a marble egg shape. The marble is a blended pattern of tan, pinks and grays. The colors are enhanced by the silver.
This piece is from a private estate collection. The marking on the base show the silver is 925. The 9 and 2 are very clearly stamped. The 5 is less visible because of the placement under the bird. The words "Hecho En Mexico" are also visible. There is a maker mark with "FC" in the center. It is my understanding this would be the initials of the artist. Encircling the initials are other letters that probably give the location of where in Mexico this piece was made. I cannot make out the words.
This piece is in good condition. No chipping or cracks in the marble that I can see. The silver is beautiful, but probably needs polishing. This piece measures approximately 4 1/4" in height and 2 1/2" wide. Without a doubt this is a very interesting piece and would be a great conversation piece to display.
