This dazzling complex pendant features an amazing Ethiopian Eita Ridge Black Opal with flashes of blues and greens and reds throughout the stone. It is a large Pear cut Cabochon stone, weighing a minimum of 7.38 carats, Measuring 20.9 x 9.2 mm and while it is a dark stone, it is fully transparent through which light can be seen from the back side of the stone when lit from behind. The stone itself is mounted in a Fine Silver (.999) Bezel The pictures do not come close to doing justice to this ring or this stone.
This Pendant presented an interesting challenge in that I wanted a piece that was sculptural and 3 dimensional. This particular design demonstrated that the filigree could be used to create the depth and complexity that I was looking for and still show case the gorgeous Black Opal .
It is made from Sterling Silver and Fine silver utilizing the ancient Filigree technique with hand forged and milled Filigree components. The process is time consuming but the result is well worth the effort.
The pendant measures 3.5 inches in length. The chain is a Viking Knit sterling silver chain 20.5 inches in length and sold separately; Item number VC0000303. This piece is a statement piece and works well with Evening and Office attire. It will catch the eye and will generate many compliments..
