Lucite and Celluloid Bracelet 1950's Leru
In the 1950s a company named Leru made several different styles of celluloid (cellulose acetate) and Lucite bracelets. All had rhinestones and the shapes varied. This cutie is pink with a clear (now oxidized to champagne) Lucite back. The shiny rhinestones are a bright sparkly pink with small sparkly clear.
It's a hinged bracelet for a small wrist. hard to say if originally it was for a child as most of the styles they did were not juvenile. In any case check the measurements. The width is 1". The wall thickness is approx. 1/4". The inside measures 1 3/4" x 2".
Original hinge still snappy and no damage to the bracelet.
This is the bracelet I used for the photograph on page 101 of the book I co-authored called "Plastic Bangles, Tortoriello / Lyons, Schiffer, 2005.
Gender: Female, Age Group: Adult, Color: Pink, Size: 1
