More from Room 4 More
A phenomenal 1940s brooch depicting a Mexican man carved from Bakelite. On his satchel, scarf, and shoes he has his original cold paint detailing as bright as the day it was made. He's wearing a carved wood sombrero also with cold paint patterns in red, yellow, and green. He is sitting atop a carved Lucite donkey or burro with a cold painted eye in black and white and black painted hoofs. He has pink dye applied to the back of his head still bright and not faded. The details are phenomenal.
The brooch overall measures 2 1/2" wide x 2 3/8" tall. A good sized piece. Laying flat it is about 1 1/4" thick.
This brooch is in the best condition I've ever seen. No damage at all, all colors are bright and the pink dye on the burro is bright. The original pin back with safety is screwed into the Lucite and functions perfectly.
