This c1940s carved wood brooch depicts a Mexican man pulling his donkey. He is wearing a hand painted hat with zig zag designs. His jacket is hand painted as well as his socks. He holds red plastic covered string (original) over his shoulder and attached through a carved hole to the donkey - his "rope". His donkey has a leather saddle with hand painted details which is held on by a brass rivet on the back. He has a glass or plastic eye.
The carving is very intricate, very detailed. Wonderful workmanship as you can actually feel the memento of the walking.
Quite a chunky piece measuring just shy of 3" across and 2 1/4' tall. The thickness of the wood is just shy of 1/2".
The original pin back with safety catch works perfectly.
The condition is excellent without damage. The leather on the saddle is worn but the leather is unbroken.
Gender: Unisex, Age Group: Adult, Color: Brown / Yellow / Red / Green, Size: 3
