How unusual! This hand carved pendant of coral depicts the image of the legendary god of the North Wind (Boreas in Greek Mythology, Negagfok in Inuit mythology, and other references in modern literature.
The coral face is highly detailed, right down to the teeth. It is partially set in a headband that affixes to the North Wind's "mane of wild hair" - which is 14K yellow gold and is adorned with approximately .30 carats of little prong set, round cut diamonds.
This piece can be worn as a pin or a pendant. There are 2 loops on the back top of the piece to wind a gold chain through. There is also a pin and functioning clasp for it to be worn as a pendant.
From the 1960 - 1975 period, It measures an inch and a half in either direction, and weighs 13.4 pennyweights. Unmarked, it tests 14K gold.
