Unusual Garnet Necklace, c 1940's
A sweet piece, this necklace features dark Czechoslovakian garnet beads with gold detail and and almost regal-looking pendant.
The necklace is 16 inches long. The clasp is stamped 585, but that could be just the clasp. Often garnets from this region and time period were set in brass with a gold wash. Still I'm leaning toward the whole thing begin gold because it doesn't sport that dulled patina that gold over brass usually does.
Anyway, the beauty is in the smooth, dark purply red beads of this piece. There are 43 beads (42 in the chain that are 5mm, and one in the pendant at 7mm).
Gender: Female, Age Group: Adult, Color: Garnet, Size: Small
