This is such a sweet, charming little piece! It truly celebrates the seed pearl, so popular during this era. We believe this pendant/pin dates from the 1870's.
We love the detail, even the 2 little seed pearls on the bale! The bale folds in to be unseen when you wear it as a brooch. Note that the hinge, pin, and clasp have been replaced sometime in the 20th century.
The seed pearls are set in a floral pattern of 10K gold (tested). There is an illegible hallmark on the back.
It measures one inch in diameter, and weighs 2.2 pennyweights.
The old, the new, the beautiful, the rare, the best - unique finds to send you over the moon!
I apologize for my absence the next week - I will ship all purchases on the 19th in time for Christmas.
