A rare Victorian fan with a spangled silk leaf and shell sticks, circa 1870. The fan has a rare feature in the mother of pearl panels on the leaf and also mother of pearl spangles, in addition to the gold and silver spangles. The sticks are pique with gold and silver. The fan is in very good condition. There is only one panel of MOP missing that I can see and nearly all of the pique is intact. Please see all photos. I have only seen a small handful of fans with MOP panels on the leaf in over 30 years of dealing in fans as a collector/dealer and restorer. And I have never seen spangles made from MOP. This is a beauty! The guardstick length is 9 1/2". Guaranteed to be as described.
