A fine American mahogany case banjo clock dating from the first half of the 19th century. The clock is unsigned and has two reverse painted verre eglomise panels. The top one with a portrait of George Washington. The bottom of Mount Vernon. Both panels are original and have some deterioration/damage. There may also be some restoration to the backgrounds on the paintings. Please see photos. The dial is painted porcelain with Roman numerals. The brass bezel and glass over the dial are a replacement. The case has brass appointments on the pendulum box and the throat. The decorative brass corner embellishments on the pendulum box are added, The movement is 8 day, in good working condition, with key. The movement has been restored and a new string for the weight was added. The clock is approx. 42" high including the finial by 10" wide. Guaranteed to be as described.
Note: This is a great looking clock but due to the restorations, it is probably not the clock for the fastidious collector who wants everything 100% original.
