An interesting American primitive school oil on board painting, signed and dated in the lower left corner, Carte 1934. The painting depicts a mountain scene with a man bending over a waterfall to take a drink. He is un-aware that a bear is approaching and he has left his rifle and pack on the ledge right in front of the bear. Uh-oh.... The back of the painting has an un-finished work and a pencil notation on the top "James Carte". It is 25 3/4"high by 21" wide including the frame and is guaranteed to be as described.
