A very special and rare porcelain covered serving bowl with cover, compote. For fruit compotes or sweetmeats. Dating from the late 18th century, circa 1790. The bowl is molded porcelain, hand painted in florals, with rococo styling and gilt trim. It is unmarked, probably English, possibly Welsh. It is approx. 6 1/2" high by 6 3/4" wide. The base is 4 1/2" across. In overall excellent condition. The gilding is worn in places and there is crazing in the glaze when viewed under magnification. Some staining and minor imperfections in the glaze. All these, indicative of the age. Please view all photos carefully. Guaranteed to be as described.
