A fantastic Scottish sterling silver bullet form teapot made by J. Hay, Edinburgh 1861. The teapot bears a partial coat of arms and the family motto of the Cuthbert's . The motto reads, in Latin, "Nec minus fortiter" which translates to "not less bravely". The teapot is heavily chased with an all-over floral decoration and is in very good condition. The area where the motto is has a slight dent which can probably be smoothed out. This is a very minor issue in our opinion. The teapot does sit slightly "back" on it's base. Someone may have leaned on the handle a little too heavily at one point? There is no evidence of repair or damage. It may have even been made that way, we're not sure, but thought we should mention it. The teapot weighs approx. 20 ounces and is approx. 6 1/2" high. From handle to spout it is 9 1/2". Guaranteed to be as described.
