A fantastic French Louis XV period walnut open armchair or 'fauteuil', circa 1770 with period needlepoint upholstery. The chair is all pegged construction and the finish is original. The chair has two repairs under the arms where it meets the back. There are metal plates under each arm. Please see all photos. The needlepoint upholstery is 18th or early 19th century and is in fair condition. It probably needs to be replaced as it is quite fragile and there is some damage. It might be possible to restore it. It is so nice and would be a shame to lose it entirely. Note: there is another layer of upholstery under the needlepoint so it is probably not original to the chair. The chair is 35" high at the back by 24" wide at the front by 19" deep. and 17" from the floor to the seat height. Guaranteed to be as described.
