French antique pair of oil paintings landscapes by Georges Philibert Charles Maroniez (1865-1933), circa 1900. This pair of beautiful oil paintings were done on board and are now framed in newer frames. These paintings show forest scenes with a stream and have wonderful use of color and light. Each painting measures 26-3/4" x 18-1/2" framed and image 20-1/2" x 12-1/2".
George Maroniez was born in Douai in 1865 and died in Paris in 1933. He was the son of a sugar manufacturer in Montigny en Ostrevent near Douai (Nord). He made a career as a judge until 1905, but at the same time was also a painter and photographer. Maroniez was a member of the Salon des Artistes Francais from 1889.
