Antique French rare rocking ship automaton clock in gilt and patinated bronze case, circa 1875. This clock features pitch and roll movement giving a three dimensional rocking ship superb animation that activates automatically 5 minutes before each hour and stops after the hour strike. The ship is amidst a blue fabric sea with an old world city scene backdrop including men. This clock has an eight day movement with bell strike. This silvered dial exhibits roman numerals and is surrounded by a cast gilt floral garland. You will also find cast and gilt faces on the corners, intertwined serpents on the feet and a mermaid and merman center scene on the base. Dimensions: 19" high x 16" wide x 7" deep.
