A charming 1940's celluloid and wood rose brooch in gentle sepia colours - perfect for a romantic summer garden-party. The rose is beautifully molded and very three-dimensional. The celluloid is in excellent, undamaged condition - but the varnish on the wood has a few light pin-marks on the front that are hardly noticeable. On the reverse there is a lot of old glue residue - though the clasp, in type, looks fairly original - maybe this was a plaque on a box and was converted to a brooch in the 60's. Unsigned - as these pieces invariably are.
