This pretty little jug has an unusual pattern. Fans surround a diamond shape, that hs a star on one side, a diamond cut diamond on the other, and a cross on top and bottom. They almost look like a shield. The bottom is hollow cut into a row of oval bulls eyes. The top rim is cut in a gentle scallop. The base is cut into a 32 point star. The applied handle also has three rows of hollow cuts which create a row of diamonds down the middle. This piece is not marked and we have not yet identified its maker.
This comes from the estate of Phil’s mom, who was a passionate collector of American Brilliant cut glass and other fine art glass.
SIZE: Height is just over 4 1/2 inches. Width from side to side at the top is 2 1/2 inches, and from edge of rim to edge of spout is 3 1/4 inches. Diameter at the base is just over 3 1/4 inches.
CONDITION: There is one significant flake chip under the spout. It looks as though the edges were ground out at some time. Otherwise, we see the occasional very small nick on some of the high edges. Overall, this piece displays very nicely as the one chip is not really visible when looking from the side or above.
