This is an amazingly brilliant and beautiful decanter. The cuts in the large 24 point hobstars, miter cuts and fans are deep and beautifully polished. The shoulder and neck are fluted, with small notches cut along the front three edges. The nicely cut handle is applied. The base is cut into a 24 point star. We believe the stopper matches as it fits well, and also has an etched number 7 as does the neck. However, the stopper does have a slight amber cast to the glass (pictures accentuate this!) which the very clear glass of the decanter does not have. We do not see a mark and have not yet identified the maker of this beautiful piece. This beautiful piece catches the light and sends it out in a rainbow of colors.
We have a set of four glasses which may go with this decanter. We were not entirely sure, and are therefore selling them separately. They can be seen here: https://www.rubylane.com/item/410517-P-0120/Set-Four-ABCG-Shot-Glasses
This comes from the estate of Phil’s mom, who was a passionate collector of American Brilliant cut glass and other fine art glass.
SIZE: With the stopper in, the height is 7 1/2 inches. Height to the top of the spout is about 6 1/8 inches and diameter at the base is 3 3/4 inches.
CONDITION: This decanter displays beautifully and is in very good condition overall. There is one small chip on a point which also shows an internal bruise around it. There are a few other tiny nicks on high points, but no cracks or major chips. There are a few larger, shallow flake chips along the bottom side of the stopper.
