We believe these two lovely cordial glasses were made in Germany or possibly Czechoslovakia in the mid 1900s. They are molded glass rather than blown. The stems are solid green glass. The bowls are clear glass which is completely covered in gold. Grape leaves and vines are engraved through the gold and into the clear glass. Red glass “gems” are applied to create grape clusters; there are two such clusters on each glass. Imagine drinking a raspberry cordial in one of these glasses; the red would show through the engraved leaves and really complement the glittery red gem grapes.
This comes from the estate of Phil’s mom, who was a passionate collector of American Brilliant cut glass and other fine art glass.
SIZE: Each glass measures 5 inches in height. Diameter at the top is 1 3/8 inches and at the base is just under 2 inches.
CONDITION: The condition of both glasses is excellent. The gold is completely intact, with a bit of darkening here and there. All of the glass gems are intact, and are bright and glittery. There are no cracks, chips or scratches.
Please note: the gold is not blemished. You are seeing reflections from behind the camera.
